Look Thunder Snow has a proven love affair with Meydan. West Coast running second doesn’t mean he’s less of a horse. He just ran into a horse who really really loves Meydan.

I mean he got beat at Meydan in his last start – it’s not foolproof. But he definitely runs well there!

Speed Bias probably also was a key looking back. I was hoping West Coast was close enough it wouldn’t be an issue. But yeah other then Biscuits almost all the winners today were right on the lead or right off of.

West Coast favored in Dubai World Cup

Last year he won the Dubai World Cup with Arrogate, this time Bob Baffert runs 2017 Eclipse Award Three-Year-Old Male West Coast, who is now four, and the eight-year-old Mubtaahij in Saturday’s $10 million, Grade 1 Dubai World Cup at Meydan. The race also features Talismanic, Gunnevera, Forever Unbridled, and last year’s UAE Derby winner Thunder Snow.

I’m going to guess the person who posted on FB that they couldn’t wait for Always Dreaming to beat West Coast is either a really overzealous Always Dreaming fan, hates West Coast for some reason, or both. Because that is seriously trying to count your chickens before they hatch moment.

Gun Runner targets from outside in Pegasus World Cup

The Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup is set for a full field of twelve, and Gun Runner will also be challenged by post 10 at Gulfstream Park, a track known to be unforgiving to outside posts at 9 furlongs. Last year California Chrome started from post 12 and finished 9th in the Pegasus World Cup, his final race.

Trainer Steve Asmussen remains confident however that Gun Runner will handle the post as easily as he’s handled other obstacles in his impressive career. The G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner is coming off of four consecutive Grade 1 wins.

The Pegasus World Cup will be the final race for Gun Runner and Stellar Wind. Gun Runner will go on to stud, and is expected to be honored as Horse of the Year at the Eclipse Awards on Thursday. Stellar Wind is booked to American Pharoah this spring.
