Switched stables at beginning of year as it became clear I wouldn’t be allowed to ride for my schools team due to to not being able to take the number of classes needed. And moved to a stable 10 minutes from my house.
I’ve been riding this little lady here, Shady, for about 3 weeks of the 5 I’ve been there. I went to grab her yesterday morning for our lesson and apparently 3 weeks was all was needed to get designated as friend by her. Got a surprise when she greeted with me a long chorus of nickers. A new change from the previous week.
February 26, 2015 – Still Alive Raced from 2017 – Still Actively Racing Thoroughbred Stallion (Bay) – United States
Name Origin: A spoof on “Hip Hip Hooray”. Hemp is a by-product of the Cannabis (Marijuana) plant. You cannot get high off of Hemp and it’s got a ton of uses from clothing, paper, ropes, insulation, biofuel and jewelry to name a few. But as you can’t have Hemp without Marijuana (for now at least), the harmless by-product is still banned in many places.
Hemp made a good first impression, winning in a MSW in his first start, and then winning the 2017 Tyro Stakes. For his third start he was entered into the G2 Summer Stakes where he finished second behind Untamed Domain. In his final start for the year he finished 14th and last in the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, which was won by Mendelssohn.
He returned for 2018, but only won one race – the Animal Kingdom Stakes. He finished second in the King Corrie Stakes and Ontario Jockey Club Stakes, and third in the G2 Nearctic Stakes. His most recent start was on Nov 11 where he finished 8th in the G2 Kennedy Road Stakes.
