February 26, 2015 – Still Alive Raced from 2017 – Still Actively Racing Thoroughbred Stallion (Bay) – United States
Name Origin: A spoof on “Hip Hip Hooray”. Hemp is a by-product of the Cannabis (Marijuana) plant. You cannot get high off of Hemp and it’s got a ton of uses from clothing, paper, ropes, insulation, biofuel and jewelry to name a few. But as you can’t have Hemp without Marijuana (for now at least), the harmless by-product is still banned in many places.
Hemp made a good first impression, winning in a MSW in his first start, and then winning the 2017 Tyro Stakes. For his third start he was entered into the G2 Summer Stakes where he finished second behind Untamed Domain. In his final start for the year he finished 14th and last in the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, which was won by Mendelssohn.
He returned for 2018, but only won one race – the Animal Kingdom Stakes. He finished second in the King Corrie Stakes and Ontario Jockey Club Stakes, and third in the G2 Nearctic Stakes. His most recent start was on Nov 11 where he finished 8th in the G2 Kennedy Road Stakes.

I…. don’t get breeders, I really don’t.
Army Mule was undefeated in his career. His three race career. His three race with only one single G1 win career. He made a single start in 2017, winning a MSW. He won an Allowance in January of 2018. Then in April he won the G1 Carter Handicap.
And apparently that was enough to stamp his ticket to the stud barn. Though a lot of people on the internets think that with his odd workout and race schedules, he most likely had a lot of soundness issues. Just what we should breed MORE of! 😀
Army Mule is currently standing at Hill ‘n’ Dale for 2019 for $10,000.
