The 2016 Breeder’s Cup was a star-studded affair.
In the Distaff, the battle to the wire once again reminded the audience why horse racing is dubbed the sport of kings. Six-year old Beholder, a two-time BC winner, engaged the undefeated 3-year old Songbird, who had won the Juvenile Fillies the year before. At the end of the stretch, it was Beholder who captured the win by a nose.
Not to be outdone, Arrogate and California Chrome duked it out in a battle of their own in the Classic. Chrome, North America’s richest horse, was leading down the stretch with Arrogate rallied for six lengths and passed him at the wire.
