Not a Thoroughbred by any means, but this rugged Mustang definitely has a special place in my heart. Years ago, as a horse-crazed little girl, Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies was one of the best discoveries I could have ever happened upon. The drama and almost shocking realness those documentaries brought to the world in regards of wild Mustangs is one I think every horse lover should experience for themselves. And at the center of it all was the sand-colored stallion Cloud. A few weeks ago, he happened to rear up in my mind out of seemingly nowhere, and I checked in to see if he was still faring well after all this time to find that he had sadly passed away in November of 2015. After some debate, I realized that I couldn’t not give him a late sendoff. Mustangs are such a historical, special, breathtaking breed, and the mountains of Wyoming are going to be a little less brighter with such an illustrious face missing. Run free, Cloud.
